Another NAMS Event Coming My Way
I’m gearing up for another NAMS conference. My first experience with a live event was back in January 2010 when I attended NAMS 3. I remember how nervous I was on so many levels…mainly having to drive through the mountains to get there
Joking aside (although I am really afraid of going through mountains), I was really nervous about being at a live event and face to face with so many people. When you work at home and are used to sitting behind your computer screen and socializing via Twitter or Facebook 99% of the time, face to face interaction can be a bit nerve wracking especially in an environment of a live conference.
But I survived and I loved every minute of it. I think I enjoyed the networking more than everything I learned! It was so cool to meet new people and hang out with those that I’d known online for so long!
So, all that to say that I can’t wait to head to Atlanta again in August for NAMS 6! This time around I’m not nearly as nervous about the event as I was for NAMS 3. Oh and in case you’re wondering I will be flying this time around
Do you attend live events?
4 Reasons Why I’m Promoting your Competition and Not You

4 Reasons Why I’m Promoting your Competition and Not You
by: Nicole Dean
Today, I’m sitting at my computer, about to launch a new site and I’m going through Clickbank, looking for potential affiliate programs to promote.
Not only am I considering personally promoting the products that I find, but I may recommend that customers who purchase my PLR articles at EasyPLR.com promote them, too.
Time and time again, I’m shaking my head, wondering if these Internet Marketers realize how many potential affiliates they are losing, as I click the red “x” and go to the next product. And, of course, this isn’t only a problem with the products listed at places like Clickbank (and it certainly isn’t a reflection of the quality of Clickbank, itself).
Affiliate Programs everywhere are lacking in their professionalism and respect for their affiliates.
It’s pretty obvious that many people don’t realize what turns off a potential affiliate. Could it be, perhaps, that the people writing and marketing these ebooks have not been successful at Affiliate Marketing themselves?
After much frustration, I’ve decided to run through my list of reasons I did not choose your product to promote, and, instead chose your competition.
1. Your page is gaudy and unappealing.
Now, we all know the saying that ‘Ugly sites sell’. That’s absolutely true. A plain blue or white background with Arial text can make millions. However, a site that looks like a sparkly, flashy mess and gives your visitors a seizure is not cool. Leave the cursors alone. Don’t stick animation on there. And, for goodness sakes, stick with only one or two fonts, please.
2. Typos and spelling errors.
This one is actually kind of frightening. If the product you’re selling is an e-BOOK then please act like you know how to write. Have a friend or even an enemy read and reread your sales letter for you. If you don’t have any friends or enemies, then pay someone. Just don’t try to sell an e-book on a sales page that looks like a third grader wrote it. It’s not going to sell. At least I’m not going to sell it.
3. You offer sales options that I won’t get affiliate credit for on the sales page.
For instance, you list an electronic and a hard-cover version of your book through amazon. Tacky! Why should I send you traffic through Clickbank so that you can make a commission on amazon? Not a chance. Or even worse, you have both a Clickbank button and a paypal button.
And, my #1 biggest irritant –
4. You’ve got google ads or actually have the guts to sell advertising on your page.
(And, no, I’m not joking here.) I don’t even need to go there. Anyone who’s a successful affiliate knows that this is the sign of death for any affiliate program.
So, there you have it. Four reasons why your competition is getting my business and you are not.
Are you ready to attract affiliates to promote your products? And, would you like to have an affiliate program that doesn’t stink? Nicole Dean is on a mission to help you. Dream of Being a Blogger? You Can Be a Blogger, Too. Here’s What You’ll Need to Do

More and more moms are getting into the blogging scene. Some for fun, some for profit, and some for both. Why not make money while you’re blogging about your favorite stuff, right?
It’s easier than ever to get started blogging. But the first thing you need before you begin is an idea for your domain name.
What is a domain name?
It’s the “www (dot) SOMETHING (dot) com” that people will type in to get to your blog. It’s like your address.
There are some standards for what is a “great” domain name, though, verses one that makes you wonder what on earth that person was thinking!
In order to help you to come up with a great web name that you’ll love for years, here are my unbreakable rules for choosing a domain.
1. No hyphens.
Avoid dashes and hyphens. I’ve been there. Done that. Regret it to this day.
2. No numbers.
Do I spell it out “seven” or is it the number “7??
3. Avoid words that are difficult to spell.
Although I once was really excited about using a domain with the word “catalyst” in it — I found that no one could spell the darned thing.
4. Domain should end in .com.
I don’t bother with other endings like .info or .biz. People tend to type in .com at the end of everything, so it’s usually best to stick with a .com ending.
5. Domain must NOT have any copyright names in it.
I would not recommend using “Starbucks”, “Disney”, or any other company name in your URL or you may get a “cease and desist” email. Yes, even though you’re starting as a little mom blogger, eventually you might get huge. So, it’s best to plan for success in advance and avoid using trademarks in your URL.
6. If I’m looking to sell your blog down the road, it must be generic enough.
For instance, I wouldn’t buy “NicoleKnowsFootball.com” to talk about my favorite football team if I planned to sell the site ever, because I’d have to find someone named Nicole to buy it.
And my big, bad unbreakable rule.
7. It must pass the Oprah test.
What exactly is the Oprah test? Well, I picture Oprah saying it out loud. “Today I have with me, Nicole Dean, author of Blah blah blah and owner of NicoleontheNet.com”. Is it memorable? Easy to spell?
You can’t do that with MyNumber1-BestHome-Remedy-Treatments4New-Mothers.net.
Why is this Important?
A difficult domain is actually wasted opportunity and wasted traffic slipping through your fingers. If you’re promoting via audio or video (maybe on podcasts or on YouTube) – you need a domain that is EASY to remember. It has to make it into the person’s ears and to his brain and stick. Heck, even if you run into an old college friend and say “Stop by my site www (dot) somethingcool (dot) com” – you’ll want her to remember long enough to actually come to your blog, right? So, make it simple. Make it memorable. And you’ll be glad.
Plus, honestly, it’s a credibility issue. Would you really buy something from MyNumber1-BestHome-Remedy-Treatments4New-Mothers.net? I hope you wouldn’t even think of getting out your credit card for a site like that. SCARY. And would you feel comfortable referring it to your friends? Not a chance.
How do you get a domain?
You can get a domain at www.MomWebs.com which is also my recommendation for Web Hosting. As you sign up for your domain, you can get hosting at the same time. And… they’ll even set up your blog for you for only $10. Plus, there’s a phone number that you can call if you have any questions.
With all of that help, there’s nothing stopping you from setting up your first blog.
I hope this has been helpful. And, I really look forward to seeing YOU on Oprah!
