Making Sense Of Reprint And PLR Articles
Have you ever found yourself wondering what the difference between reprint and PLR (private label rights) articles was? You have? Great! Now I don’t feel so silly for admitting that it took quite awhile for the light bulb to finally go off and I understood the difference
Just in case you still aren’t familiar with the differences between these two types of articles let me break it down for you.
First, let’s look at reprint articles:
Reprint articles are found at different places like article directories or even someone’s website. When it comes to using content from another website you have to be 100% positive that they give permission for their content to be used as reprint content. For example if you take a look at Wahm Talk Radio. You will see a link at the top of her site that says Articles You Can Use. She’s giving you permission to use those articles as is – meaning you can NOT modify them and you MUST leave the author bio intact.
Let’s go back to talking about article directories for a second. In this example we’ll use WAHM Articles. On their main page you’ll see some text that says “The WAHM articles you find here can also be used in your own newsletter, blog or on your WAHM website for free. All we ask in return is that you include the author’s resource box and active links to her website.” That simply means you can take the article and add it to your site but you need to make the links in the author bio active (clickable).
A word of caution about reprint articles – SOME (not all but some!) people who have content out there that can be used as reprint are merely seeking links back to their site(s). You NEED to be very picky about what reprints you are going to use if you decide to use this type of content.
There is just one more thing I want to mention about reprint articles before moving onto PLR. Most of the reprint articles you find are going to be shorter than PLR. This isn’t really a ‘problem’ but just something to keep in mind.
Now, let’s look at PLR articles:
As I already mentioned above PLR stands for private label rights. That simply means that you can basically do what you like with the content. For example if it’s a PLR eBook you can break it down into articles, blog posts, etc. You can edit it, add to it, whatever you see fit.
When it comes to editing PLR content a definite plus (compared to reprint articles) is that you can add your own keywords and keyword phrases for that particular topic to do some basic SEO optimization.
And there’s just one more thing I want to mention about PLR articles before closing. Just as I mentioned above that reprint articles tend to be shorter, you will find that PLR articles are longer and tend to be more detailed as well as more professionally written.
So in closing let me just give you a brief recap:
Reprint Articles:
- Can NOT be modified
- Must keep the author bio intact and the links must be active
- Stuck with the keywords/keyword phrases author used
- Tend to be shorter
PLR Articles/Content:
- Can be modified however you see fit
- Add your own keywords/keyword phrases
- Tend to be longer, more detailed and more professionally written
You should now have a better understanding of what the difference between reprint and PLR articles is. Both types of content can be a benefit to you and your business by adding value to your website as long as you use the content properly and it relates to your niche/topic. Not only can both types of content add value but it’s also a way to save you time when it comes to content production. And we all know that content is king!
