What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word transcriptionist?
Is it medical transcription? A good portion of people that I talk too automatically assume I’m a medical transcriptionist when I say I provide transcription services. When I begin to explain to them that I’m a general transcriptionist they get a funny look on their face. Like they didn’t know there was such a thing.
What is a general transcriptionist?
It’s someone that transcribes things not in a niche category (like law, medical, etc). They can transcribe anything from audio interviews to podcasts to teleseminars. Anything that has been recorded can be transcribed.
How can a general transcriptionist help me?
Let’s take a look at a few different ways that a transcriptionist can help you and your business.
Content is king.
Everyone knows the importance of keeping your site updated with fresh new content regularly. Having a transcript put together of an audio interview or podcast is a great way to add new content to your site.
Are you working on an information product?
Consider giving it some extra value by adding the transcript of an interview(s) you did while researching the project.
Do you host teleseminars or expos?
Think about having the audio transcribed and then you can sell the audio recording(s) and transcript(s) as a bundle package.
Do you need content for your mailing list?
You could use a transcript from an interview or podcast and break it down into some email messages.
What about the hearing impaired?
Don’t forget that hearing impaired people surf the net too! By having transcripts of audio recordings or podcasts readily available you can provide your valuable information to a whole new group of people.
