Six Reasons Why An Effective Article Marketing Campaign Brings You Free Traffic

legal padRecently I talked about Three Benefits of Article Marketing. One of the benefits I mentioned was free traffic to your website. If you have an effective article marketing campaign it’s a great way to be driving website traffic.  Let’s take a more in depth look at getting free traffic from an effective article marketing campaign.

Here are six reasons how article marketing brings you free traffic:

1. Incoming links.
This is probably the most obvious result that article marketing will produce. You will get incoming links from the article directories and anyone that uses your article because of the author bio box at the end of the article that includes a link to your site. That’s why it’s so important to write a good author bio box and provide a link back to your site.

2. Author resource box.
I touched on this briefly above but let’s look at it a bit more. You need to make the best of your resource box. Depending on what you are branding use your name or title. Make sure you don’t forget to add a link to your site (believe it or not I have come across a few articles in some article directories that did not have a link back to their site or even a product in their author bio!). You should also try to incorporate at least one keyword in your resource box.

3. Keyword research.
If you are diligent with keyword research and make sure to intertwine them throughout the article (be careful here – you don’t want to use too many keywords and make it look like you are ‘keyword stuffing’ your article) you have a greater chance of having more people find it and link to you. Not only will more people linking to your article bring you more traffic it also helps establish you as an expert.

4. Multiple articles & multiple directories.
Writing one article and submitting it to one directory isn’t going to give you very much exposure. You need to write multiple articles and submit to multiple directories. Make sure that you are writing quality articles though! Don’t write a bunch of ‘crap’ articles just to have a ton of articles out there submitted to several different directories.

5. Give examples.

It doesn’t matter what you are writing about there is always someway that you can incorporate real life examples into the article. Using real life examples helps you connect with your audience. Examples leave your audience interested and more than likely curious enough that they will want to click through to hear more about it.

6. Don’t give away the whole package.
You want your article to be informative but leave enough information out that you can create a call to action that will leave them desiring to click through to your website for the ‘rest of the story’. Your call to action can be placed at the end of your article or you can place it in your author resource box.

There you have it – six reasons how an effective article marketing campaign provides free traffic to your site. But before I close there are a few more things I wanted to remind you about. The first is you can’t expect article marketing to increase your traffic overnight. An effective article marketing campaign takes time. Keep in mind that the results you see for each article you distribute is going to be different as well (meaning the time it takes to see results happen – traffic to your site, etc).

And the last thing I wanted to mention is that effective article marketing is just one slice of the pie. You can’t put all your eggs into one basket. You need to be combine article marketing with other marketing techniques as well so that you build a strong foundation for your website or blog.
