Three Benefits of Article Marketing
One of the very first things I started off doing for clients, when I opened my Virtual Assistant business back in January 2006, was article marketing. It didn’t take long to learn how beneficial it was as clients shared with me the increase in traffic to their sites from an article (or articles) I had just submitted on their behalf.
But wait! Before we go any further let’s define what article marketing is just in case you aren’t familiar with it.
Article Marketing Definition: (from Wikipedia)
Article marketing is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace. Each article contains a bio box and byline that include references and contact information for the author’s business.
That’s a pretty straight forward definition and pretty easy to understand the concept of article marketing. So now that that’s out of the way let’s take a look at how article marketing can be beneficial to your business.
Three Article Marketing Benefits For Your Business:
1. Free traffic to your blog/website.
Who doesn’t want traffic to their site? Without traffic you can’t get your products or services in front of potential clients which means no sales. One thing that needs to be pointed out is that you don’t just want any ole traffic coming to your site. While untargeted traffic might make your web stats look good and you could even potentially make a sale or two it’s pretty useless. You want targeted traffic, the people in your niche you’re trying to reach, that will be interested in your products or services. So keep that in mind and as you write your articles be sure to provide informative, quality content that pertains to your target market.
2. Establishes you as an expert.
No matter what type of business you have there will be competition. You need to establish yourself as an expert or the go to person in your niche. Article marketing, as long as you are providing informative, quality content is one the quickest ways to put yourself out there as an expert. It’s an excellent opportunity for you to share your knowledge on a subject and become the authority in that area.
3. Author bio at end of article.
Your bio should be short and to the point. The content listed here needs to pertain to what you are promoting (your product or service) and provide a link back to your site. After all that’s the whole point of the article in the first place – getting targeted traffic to your site. (You can see an example of an author bio at the end of this article.)
As you can see those are three pretty important benefits of article marketing. Now you might be saying well I’m not a writer so I have to skip on this whole article marketing thing. Actually, no you don’t have to skip it and miss out on the benefits of it. There are ways to get around that roadblock but that’s an article for another day.
