When Working From Home A Sick Day Does Not Make Me Feel Guilty

I’m propped up in bed with a bunch of nasty cold/flu medicine ‘pumped’ into my system as I write this. Being sick is no fun especially when here in Northern Michigan we are having a beautiful day. When I say beautiful I mean it’s about 55-56 degrees out and you can actually step outside without a winter coat, hat and gloves. This is so NOT like November for us!

I had plans of spending the day/night with my friend Kelly McCausey at her peaceful, relaxing, blissful Lake House. I had plans of vegging this weekend and not doing anything unless I felt like doing something.

So I guess I can’t complain about being in bed sick because after all it was my plan to do nothing. This just isn’t exactly how planned on doing nothing. But oh well I digress there’s no sense in dwelling on the fact I’m under the weather.

Instead, I’m taking this opportunity to catch up on blog reading, writing blog posts, working on some things I didn’t get done yesterday, playing on Facebook, watching good ole chic flicks, talking to some of my fave peeps on Twitter, and sleeping.

So the whole point of this post was just to say that one thing I love about working from home is that a sick day doesn’t cause me to feel guilty like it did back when I had a J-O-B! And another cool thing about sick days and working at home that I’ve noticed – I can still be productive when I’m feeling under the weather because I have the freedom to work in small increments and rest when I need to! Working from home is so great even when I am sick!

I love working at home and I don’t know if I could go back to a regimented schedule of an office. Hope you feel better. Sorry you had to miss your weekend at the Lake House, it sounds like it would have been super relaxing.

  2. Sorry you are sick, Tishia. Like Leane, I also couldn’t go back to work. When partner alludes to the idea, I just say, “If you want to see me even more depressed than I sometimes get, just send me out to work”.

So, ‘enjoy’ being sick without the guilts. lol

Glad your Mum is looking after you.

Leane – Thank you for your comment. I know I could never go back to working outside the home again!

Christine – Thanks for commenting! Well I’m enjoying not feeling guilty about having a sick day but I’m certainly not enjoying being sick ;-) LOL
