Twitter Marketing
I remember back when Twitter first came out – I loved it. There was a small group of people in my little online circle of friends on there and we all interacted quite often. Then as it began to grow and there were more people to follow, more people to interact with, I started finding it not as ‘fun’ anymore. Today, my Twitter account has 2,000+ followers (and I follow 2,000+ people back) – and that’s a small following compared to a lot of people! – so it’s a lot more difficult to do much one-on-one interacting.
Another reason I don’t use it that often is because I haven’t found it to be much of an ROI (return on investment). Of course, if I were using it more frequently I might get a better ROI. But every so often I do get someone that sends me a direct message (that’s actually “real” not spam!) or will get go to my website and contact me about something I shared. A few times it’s ended in a phone consultation with a prospective client.
All that to say, I know Twitter Marketing can be useful and that I could get a better ROI if I was doing it more effectively. And that’s exactly what a recent post I came across over at Social Media Examiner teaches.
Here are a few of the 7 tips they share in the article:
- Create and Share Curated Lists
- Reply to the Right Audience
- Retweet Efficiently
This also really stood out to me and it’s so true! Sometimes going back to the basics is exactly what we need!
As social media marketers, we’re always learning new ways to use social platforms, including Twitter. It’s easy to get caught up in using “advanced” methods and forget about the basics. Revisiting Twitter’s basic features and analyzing how you use them on a daily basis can give you new perspective and take your Twitter marketing efforts up a notch.
