One of the things I love most about working from home is the freedom and flexibility it allows me.
In a few months (November) that freedom and flexibility is going to allow me to get on a jet plane and head off to the Sunshine State (Florida) for a week long vacation with my son, my dad and my sister.
(The pic to the left is from 2001 – the last time I’ve been to Florida or on a vacation! It’s hard to see but that’s my kiddo sitting down in the pool. We stayed at the same resort – Disney All Stars Resort (music themed section of the resort) – that we’ll be staying at again this year)
A week long vacation! (I have to keep pinching myself to remind myself it’s real! lol)
From November 20-27th I’ll be doing nothing but soaking up the rays, sipping a Margarita by the pool at our hotel – Disney’s All Star Sports Resort, strolling through the sand on Daytona Beach and even acting like a kid on Thanksgiving Day at the Magic Kingdom (Disney World)! Oh and I can’t forget the ‘grown-up girls night out’ with my sis as we leave our dad and my son in the dust to spend some quality time together so we can have a night on the town in Downtown Disney!
If I were working at a J-O-B (praise God I’m not!) there would be the hassle of having to get my bosses permission to take an extended amount of time off work. And there would even be a chance that the boss wouldn’t approve the time off request (I’ve actually had that happen before and had to go to a higher up to get approval for the time off!).
The bottom line is…
Being my own boss there isn’t a hassle to take the time off. It’s as simple as:
- Letting my clients know I’ll be out of touch and un-reachable for those 7 days
- Getting client work done ahead of time so everything is taken care of before hand.
When was the last time you unplugged and took a vacation? I haven’t been on a vacation since Caleb was 3! (The pic to the right is of us in one of those picture booth things on Daytona Beach).
Now you see why I’m so excited? It’s been far too loooong since I’ve been on vacation! 😉
What’s holding you back from taking time off for a vacation? Do you have a plan in place to get past that ‘obstacle’ that’s holding you back?
